E. Lockhart biography

E. Lockhart is the pen name of American author Emily Jenkins. She is known for writing novels for children and young adults. Lockhart studied at Vassar College and earned a doctorate in English literature from Columbia University.

Her notable works include the young adult novel We Were Liars, published by Delacorte Press in 2014. The book was a New York Times bestseller and received the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Young Adult Fiction in 2014. Lockhart also wrote the Ruby Oliver series, beginning with The Boyfriend List in 2005, followed by The Boy Book (2006), The Treasure Map of Boys (2009), and Real Live Boyfriends (2010).

Other works include Fly on the Wall (2006), Dramarama (2007), and The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks (2008). The latter was a finalist for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature and the Michael L. Printz Award. Lockhart’s novel Genuine Fraud was published in 2017 and was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal.

In addition to her young adult fiction, Lockhart has published picture books and novels for younger readers under her real name, Emily Jenkins. Her works have been translated into multiple languages and have received recognition from literary organisations. We Were Liars was named a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year in 2014.
