E.L. Thomas biography

E.L. Thomas is a writer and game designer whose professional work includes scripts, story bibles and treatments for animation. He co-created the gaming publication Rolled & Told for Lion Forge and Oni Press, and has written material for the role-playing games SLA Industries and The Terminator RPG. His credits also include game design direction for Magnetic Press Play’s Carbon Grey RPG.

Thomas contributed to Rolled & Told Vol. 1, published by Oni Press in June 2019. The collection brings together tabletop role-playing adventures, comics and articles from the publication’s first seven issues, including issue zero.

He subsequently collaborated with Andrew E.C. Gaska on two graphic novel adaptations in the Choose Your Own Adventure series. Choose Your Own Adventure: Eighth Grade Witch, published by Oni Press in 2021, was illustrated by Valerio Chiola, with C.E. Simpson also credited as a writer. The interactive story follows Rabbit, a new pupil whose decisions lead through encounters with witches, ghosts and supernatural mysteries.

Thomas and Gaska also adapted Choose Your Own Adventure: Journey Under the Sea, illustrated by Dani Bolinho with colouring by PH Gomes. The story places readers in the role of a diver aboard the scientific vessel Maray, with choices determining the course of an underwater expedition. Oni Press published the graphic novel in September 2022.
