Duncan Beedie is a British author and illustrator of children’s books. He began his career in animation and television, working as an animator and designer before moving into children’s publishing. Beedie’s debut picture book, The Bear Who Stared, was published by Templar Publishing in 2016. The book was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2017.
Following his debut, Beedie published several other picture books, including The Lumberjack’s Beard (2017), The Last Chip (2018), Oof Makes an Ouch (2019), and Agent Llama (2020). His books have been published by Templar Publishing and Little Tiger Press. Beedie’s work is noted for its distinctive illustration style and humour, and his stories often feature animal protagonists.
The Last Chip was selected for the BookTrust Time to Read campaign in 2018, distributing copies to thousands of children across the UK. In 2021, Beedie published Agent Llama: Double Agent, a sequel to Agent Llama. His books have been translated into multiple languages.
Beedie has appeared at literary festivals and events, delivering workshops and readings for children. His book The Bear Who Stared was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2017.
