Dean Lomax is a British palaeontologist and author, known for his work in science communication and children’s non-fiction. He has written several books aimed at young readers, focusing on palaeontology and prehistoric life. Lomax authored Prehistoric Pets, published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2020, which introduces children to the prehistoric ancestors of modern pets. He also wrote Dinosaurs: 10 Things You Should Know, published by Michael O’Mara Books in 2021, providing accessible insights into dinosaur science.
Lomax has contributed to educational resources and museum exhibitions, including work with the Natural History Museum. He has received recognition for his science communication, including the Marsh Award for Palaeontology in 2015, presented by the Natural History Museum and the Marsh Christian Trust. His research and writing have been featured in various media outlets and educational programmes.
In 2022, Lomax co-authored Locked in Time: Animal Behavior Unearthed in 50 Extraordinary Fossils, published by Columbia University Press, which explores fossil evidence of prehistoric animal behaviour. His books have been translated into multiple languages. Lomax continues to publish works that engage young readers with palaeontology and natural history.
