Davide Ortu biography

Davide Ortu is an Italian illustrator whose work for children combines fantastical imagery with detailed digital art. After studying at the Sardinia School of Art, he worked in graphic design before moving into children’s publishing.

His illustrations have appeared in books such as The Girl with Space in Her Heart by Lara Williamson, Fire Boy by J.M. Joseph and Moonchild: Voyage of the Lost and Found by Aisha Bushby. Ortu’s artwork is characterised by dreamlike compositions and vivid use of colour, often depicting expansive skies, galaxies and landscapes.

His portfolio includes covers and interior illustrations for UK and international publishers, and his work has reached audiences across Europe and beyond. The Girl with Space in Her Heart was published in 2019.
