David Hockney biography

David Hockney is a British artist known primarily for his contributions to painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, and stage design. He has also illustrated books for children. Hockney collaborated with poet Stephen Spender to create China Diary, published in 1982, which includes illustrations and photographs. In 1970, Hockney illustrated Six Fairy Tales from the Brothers Grimm, published by Petersburg Press, featuring his etchings alongside the classic stories. His work in book illustration is noted for its distinctive visual style and attention to detail.

Hockney has received numerous awards and honours, including the Companion of Honour in 1997 and the Order of Merit in 2012.
