Daniel Thompson is a British author known for his work in children’s and young adult literature. He has published a range of novels that often explore themes of contemporary adolescence and family dynamics. Thompson’s writing is noted for its accessible style and engagement with issues relevant to young readers.
His debut novel, Undercover, was published in 2017 and follows the story of a teenage boy involved in a police witness protection programme. This book received positive attention for its gripping narrative and authentic portrayal of teenage life under unusual circumstances.
Following Undercover, Thompson released My Brother Is a Superhero in 2018, a title that combines elements of adventure and humour in a graphic novel format. This work has been used in schools to support reluctant readers due to its accessible text and engaging illustrations.
In 2019, Thompson published The House of Ghosts, a novel aimed at middle-grade readers that mixes mystery with supernatural elements. The book was shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book Awards in the Best Story category.
Thompson’s writing has been supported by various literary organisations and he has participated in school visits and workshops to encourage reading and creative writing among young people.
His work is published by Barrington Stoke, a publisher specialising in books for children with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. This partnership highlights Thompson’s commitment to inclusive literature.
In 2020, Daniel Thompson’s contribution to children’s literature was recognised when My Brother Is a Superhero won the Blue Peter Book Award for Best Story.
