Dan Santat biography

Dan Santat is an American author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He studied at the Art Center College of Design, where he earned a degree in illustration. Santat has illustrated numerous picture books and is also the creator of the Disney Channel animated series The Replacements.

Among his notable works as an author and illustrator is The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend, which was published by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers in 2014. This book received the Caldecott Medal in 2015, an award given annually by the American Library Association to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

In addition to his own books, Santat has illustrated titles for other authors, including Sidekicks and After the Fall (How Humpty Dumpty Got Back Up Again). His work is recognised for its distinctive style and imaginative storytelling.

Dan Santat was awarded the Caldecott Medal for The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend in 2015.
