Cynthia So biography

Cynthia So is a young adult author born in Hong Kong. Their debut novel, If You Still Recognise Me, is a queer young adult romance about Elsie, Ada and Joan, and it was published in paperback on 9 June 2022.

If You Still Recognise Me was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and the YA Book Prize in 2023. The book was published by Little Tiger Press and was on the 2023 YA Book Prize shortlist alongside titles by Catherine Doyle, Katherine Webber, Louise Finch, Holly Jackson, Nadia Mikail, Melinda Salisbury, Laura Steven and Alex Wheatle.

So was one of the new voices in Proud, a 2019 anthology of LGBTQ+ young adult stories, poems and art by LGBTQ+ creators. Their short fiction and poetry have appeared in Uncanny Magazine, Strange Horizons and Anathema.

Their second novel, This Feast of a Life, is a young adult story about Auden, Valerie, food, identity and connection. The book has 352 pages in paperback and was published on 9 January 2025.
