Colleen Larmour biography

Colleen Larmour is a children’s book author, illustrator and designer from Northern Ireland. She studied art at Liverpool Art School, focusing on children’s animation and design, before completing an MA in Children’s Book Illustration at the Cambridge School of Art. Her illustration work has also included magazines and commissioned artwork.

Larmour illustrated Amanda McCardie’s Making Friends: A Book About First Friendships, published by Walker Books in 2021. She also illustrated Tanya Lloyd Kyi’s Our Green City, published by Kids Can Press in 2022. The latter received a commendation in the 2023 Green Earth Book Award and was named a 2022 Blueberry Changemakers Book by Evanston Public Library.

Her author-illustrator debut, A Crocodile Should Never Skip Breakfast, was published by Kids Can Press in 2024. The picture book follows Croc, a river ferry who misses breakfast and becomes increasingly hungry while carrying a succession of animal passengers. Larmour’s work on the book was shortlisted in the Professional Children’s Publishing category of the 2024 World Illustration Awards.

Her other illustration credits include Brown Bears, published by Walker Books, and This That What by Katy Ashworth, published by Puffin. Larmour’s next authored picture book, Follow Me Moon, follows a child and the moon through the changing seasons and is scheduled for publication by Nosy Crow on 8 October 2026.
