Carlos Sánchez biography

Carlos Sánchez is a Spanish graphic novel author, illustrator and comic artist. He studied Design at EINA and later earned a Master’s in Creative Illustration from Bau. He began drawing from an early age in Barcelona.

His debut graphic novel, Rune: The Tale of a Thousand Faces, was published in June 2024 by Flying Eye Books. The story is aimed at 8-12-year-old readers and depicts two friends, Chiri and Dai, who enter the forest and cross into a magical realm called Puddin’, where they face the Shadow King, druids, warriors and other strange creatures.

Rune: The Tale of a Thousand Faces won the 2025 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in the Younger Readers category—marking the first time a graphic novel has won any category in the prize’s history.

Sánchez’s second book in the Rune series, Rune: Tale of the Obsidian Maze, is set for release in 2025 from the same publisher.
