Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Carl Sagan was an American astronomer, astrophysicist, and author. He wrote and co-wrote numerous books for adults and young readers, focusing on science and astronomy. Sagan co-authored the children’s book Comet (1985) with Ann Druyan, which presents the history and science of comets for a general audience, including younger readers. He also wrote Cosmos (1980), which was adapted into a television series and has been published in multiple editions, including versions for younger readers.
Sagan received the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction in 1978 for his book The Dragons of Eden. He was awarded the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal four times. His books have been published by Random House and other major publishers. Sagan’s work has been translated into many languages and remains widely available in educational settings.
He died in 1996.
