Ben Oliver is a British author known for his work in the young adult science fiction genre. He gained recognition with his debut novel, The Loop, which was published by Chicken House in 2020. The book is the first in a dystopian trilogy set in a futuristic world where prisoners are trapped in a loop of execution and resurrection.
The second book in the series, The Block, was released in 2021, continuing the story of the protagonist, Luka Kane, as he navigates the challenges of a high-tech prison system. The final installment, The Arc, was published in 2022, concluding the trilogy.
Oliver’s work has been noted for its fast-paced narrative and exploration of themes such as technology, freedom, and survival. His books have been well-received by readers and have contributed to the popularity of dystopian fiction among young adults.
Ben Oliver’s The Loop was shortlisted for the 2021 Branford Boase Award, which recognises outstanding debut novels for children. This accolade highlights his impact on the young adult literary scene.
