Ben Manley biography

Ben Manley is a writer and designer. He graduated from Cambridge with a degree in English. His work before picture books included writing and performing at Battersea Arts Centre, Riverside Studios and the Edinburgh Festival.

His debut picture book was The Misadventures of Frederick, illustrated by Emma Chichester Clark. The book was published by Two Hoots in paperback on 3 September 2020, with 32 pages and an interest age of 5 to 7.

Albert Talbot: Master of Disguise, illustrated by Aurélie Guillerey, follows a child who uses imaginative identities during everyday challenges including a swimming lesson and Show and Tell. The Two Hoots paperback was published on 4 February 2021, with 32 pages and an interest age of 3 to 6.

Constance in Peril reunited Manley with illustrator Emma Chichester Clark. The story centres on Constance Hardpenny, an old cloth doll who repeatedly faces dangerous mishaps after being rescued from a rubbish bin by a boy called Edward. The Two Hoots paperback was published on 9 June 2022, with 32 pages and an interest age of 3 to 7.

The Pipsqueak, illustrated by Andrew Gardner, is a picture book about Pip, a child without an obvious special skill who stands up to a bully and helps turn an enemy into a friend. The paperback was published by Andersen Press on 5 January 2023.
