Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Audrey Alwett developed an interest in writing at primary school, where she wrote fairy tales. During literary studies in Nantes, she worked for small publishing houses and wrote for the regional press. Her early publications included short stories and a preface across fantasy, science fiction, crime, social and historical genres.
Alwett moved into comics through Lanfeust Mag, where she wrote four short stories. In 2007 she joined Studio Gottferdom to work on scripts full time. SinBad, co-written with Arleston and illustrated by Alary, was her first title.
The first volume, L’Apprenti, was published on 6 June 2019 and follows Charly Vernier as he discovers the world of magiciers while trying to save his grandmother. The series has three primary works: L’Apprenti, Bienvenue à Saint-Fouettard and Justice soit faite !
Alwett has also written comics and graphic series, including Princesse Sara with illustrator Nora Moretti. The series includes Pour une mine de diamants, published in 2009, La Princesse déchue, published in 2010, and Mystérieuses héritières, published in 2011. She has also worked on Le Jardin des Fées with Nora Moretti and on Danseuse with Eleonora Bietolini.
