Anne Cassidy biography

Anne Cassidy is a British author of crime fiction for young adults, born in London in 1952. She spent five years working in a bank before teaching in London schools for 19 years. Cassidy began writing in 1989, and her debut novel, Big Girls’ Shoes, was published in 1991.

She has published over fifty books, around thirty of which are teen novels, including the East End Murder series featuring teenage sleuth Patsy Kelly. Cassidy has also written standalone thrillers and titles for younger readers.

Her 2004 novel, Looking for JJ, won the Booktrust Teenage Prize and was shortlisted for both the Whitbread Book Award and the Carnegie Medal. The story was later adapted into a stage play.

She followed this with a sequel, Finding Jennifer Jones, published in 2014, and has continued writing standalone crime fiction, including titles such as No Virgin, No Shame and her first middle-grade novel, The Drowning Day, released in spring 2022.

The most recent milestone in her career is the publication of The Drowning Day in spring 2022.
