Anna Zoe Quirke is a British children’s and young adult author and librarian. She grew up in the North of England and has worked professionally in libraries alongside her writing career. Quirke is autistic and queer, and these aspects of identity inform both their creative and professional work.
In 2022 Quirke won the Northern Writers’ Award for Debut YA Fiction with their manuscript Something to be Proud Of. The novel was published by Little Tiger in June 2024 and was longlisted for the Yoto Carnegie Medal in 2025. The story follows two teenagers, Imogen and Ollie, exploring themes of friendship, identity and inclusion.
Alongside fiction, Quirke writes articles and features on subjects such as mental health, neurodivergence, disability and LGBTQ+ experiences, contributing to organisations including the mental health charity Kooth. Their work across both literature and journalism reflects a consistent focus on representation and access for young people.
Quirke is represented by the Lucy Irvine Literary Agency at Peters Fraser + Dunlop.
