Anna Hoghton is a British children’s author, poet and filmmaker represented by David Higham Associates. She earned an MA in Writing for Young People from Bath Spa University.
Her debut middle-grade novel, The Mask of Aribella, was published in 2020 by Chicken House. The book won the North Somerset Teacher’s Book Award in 2020 and the Weald Book Award in 2021.
In 2022, she published her second novel, Orla and the Wild Hunt, also with Chicken House. The story draws on Irish mythology and follows its young heroine through a world of faerie and adventure.
Hoghton’s work in visual storytelling extends to short films, including the environmental-action film Never Land, which was produced in partnership with the BFI and Cape Farewell and received the Women in Film & TV ‘Best Narrative Short’ award in 2018.
Her poetry was showcased at the Bristol Festival of Ideas in 2016, and she was shortlisted for the Lancelot Andrewes Poetry Award by Carol Ann Duffy.
The most recent milestone in her career is the publication of her second novel, Orla and the Wild Hunt, in 2022.
