Ann Sei Lin biography

Ann Sei Lin is a writer and librarian who writes fantasy for young readers. She is the author of the Rebel Skies trilogy, a fantasy series published by Walker Books, with Rebel Skies as book 1, Rebel Fire as book 2 and Rebel Dawn as book 3.

Rebel Skies was published by Walker Books on 5 May 2022. The book is a teen fantasy adventure set in a world of flying ships, sky cities and powerful paper spirits, and it is inspired by Asian cultures. It follows Kurara, a servant whose ability to make paper come to life leads her to train as a Crafter and encounter shikigami, the paper spirits sought by the Princess.

Rebel Fire was published by Walker Books on 6 July 2023. The second book continues Kurara’s story through forests and seas as her crew searches for Suzaku, a paper phoenix, while facing the princess’s pursuit and rebel uprisings.

Rebel Dawn was published by Walker Books on 7 November 2024. It is the third and final book in the Rebel Skies trilogy, taking Kurara and her friends towards Mikoshima as they try to free the shikigami from their bonds.

Rebel Skies won the Badger Book Awards in 2023 and the York Book Award in 2023. It was also shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award in 2023, shortlisted for the Jhalak Children’s and YA Prize in 2023, nominated for the Carnegie Medal in 2023, shortlisted for the Trinity Schools Book Award in 2024, and nominated for the Accelerated Reader Quiz Writers’ Choice Award in 2024.
