Andy Farrell is an English rugby coach, former rugby league player, former rugby union player and author. He played rugby league for Wigan Warriors and Great Britain before switching codes to rugby union, where he played for Saracens and England.
Farrell’s rugby league career included major club and individual honours with Wigan Warriors. Publisher information for his autobiography records that he made his Wigan first-team debut at 16, won his first senior international cap at 18, received the Man of Steel award at 21, and later won the Golden Boot award for world player of the year.
After his playing career, Farrell moved into coaching. He worked with England and Ireland, and became Ireland head coach. During his time in charge, Ireland won Six Nations titles and recorded a series win in New Zealand in 2022.
His autobiography, The Only Way I Know, was published by Penguin in hardback on 16 October 2025. The paperback edition is scheduled for publication on 15 October 2026.
