Andrew A. Smith is an American author of young adult fiction. His novels include Winger (Simon & Schuster, 14 May 2013) and its sequel Stand-Off, which follow Ryan Dean West at a boarding school where rugby shapes his friendships and choices.
He wrote 100 Sideways Miles (release date: 2 September 2014), a contemporary YA novel centred on a teenage boy navigating family pressures and a growing friendship while living with a medical condition.
In 2014, Smith published Grasshopper Jungle (Dutton Books, 11 February 2014; Electric Monkey in the UK), a YA novel set in a small Iowa town that shifts into apocalyptic science fiction. The book received a Michael L. Printz Honor in 2015.
Grasshopper Jungle won the 2014 Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Fiction.
