Andrew Larsen biography

Andrew Larsen is a Canadian children’s author and stay-at-home dad based in Toronto. Born in Montreal, he spent his childhood summers at his grandparents’ off-grid cottage by a lake, which fostered his lifelong love of storytelling. His move to Toronto as a young teenager precedes a career in picture books and school visits.

Larsen has written more than twenty books for young readers, many published by Kids Can Press and Fitzhenry & Whiteside. Notable titles include The Imaginary Garden (a Governor General’s Award nominee in 2009), A Squiggly Story, The Man Who Loved Libraries: The Story of Andrew Carnegie, The Bagel King, Goodnight, Hockey Fans, and Gifts from the Garbage Truck: A True Story About the Things We (Don’t) Throw Away.

His books have garnered multiple award nominations, including the Governor General’s Award and the Ontario Library Association’s Blue Spruce Award. He makes regular school and library visits and offers writing and storytelling sessions for children.

The Imaginary Garden was nominated for a Governor General’s Award in 2009.
