Andrew Donkin is a British author and graphic novelist known for his work in children’s and young adult literature. He has collaborated with several notable authors and illustrators, contributing to a diverse range of genres and formats. Donkin’s work often involves partnerships with other creators, enhancing the storytelling experience through visual and narrative collaboration.
One of his most prominent collaborations is with Eoin Colfer, with whom he co-authored the graphic novel adaptation of Artemis Fowl. This adaptation brought the popular series to a new audience, combining Colfer’s storytelling with Donkin’s graphic novel expertise. The Artemis Fowl graphic novel was published by Hyperion Books for Children in 2007.
In addition to his work on Artemis Fowl, Donkin has also collaborated with Colfer on the graphic novel Illegal, illustrated by Giovanni Rigano. Illegal tells the story of a young boy’s journey from Africa to Europe, addressing themes of migration and resilience. The book was published by Hodder Children’s Books in 2017 and received critical acclaim for its powerful narrative and impactful illustrations.
Donkin’s contributions to literature extend beyond graphic novels. He has written numerous books for children, including titles in the Doctor Who series, showcasing his versatility as a writer.
