Andrés Lozano biography

Andrés Lozano is a Spanish illustrator based in London. He specialises in children’s lift‑the‑flap non‑fiction picture books and has collaborated extensively with author Heather Alexander on the “Life on Earth” series.

He illustrated Life on Earth: Human Body, published in April 2017, which answers 100 questions through 70 lift‑flaps aimed at early primary readers. In March 2018, he followed with illustrations for Life on Earth: Ocean, another 100‑question lift‑the‑flap title designed for toddlers and young children.

His illustration style combines bold line work, layered textures and vibrant colour palettes inspired by nature, architecture, Franco‑Belgian comics and film noir. He has also illustrated Life on Earth: Space and Life on Earth: Dinosaurs for the same series.

Lozano has worked on non‑fiction books such as The Astronaut’s Guide to Leaving the Planet (2023) and Climate Change and How We’ll Fix It (2021), expanding his range beyond the Life on Earth series.

He has contributed to major publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Sunday Times and Anorak magazine.

His latest Life on Earth title, Life on Earth: Ocean, was published in March 2018 by Wide Eyed Editions.
