Amanda Li is a British children’s author and commissioning editor who has written over seventy titles for young readers. She began her career in children’s publishing, working on language courses, audio books, non-fiction and fiction before moving into full-time writing.
Li holds an art school qualification and initially worked as an illustrator. She then qualified as an English teacher in Spain before returning to London to enter publishing. She has since specialised in creating non-fiction, activity and humour books for children, and has written titles tied to established brands and franchises.
Her picture book series includes adaptations such as Odo’s Sleepover, based on the Milkshake! TV series, and the Moominvalley series, including Adventures in Moominvalley, Moomin Mail and Extraordinary Moominvalley, published by Pan Macmillan. She also authored Lunar New Year Around the World, a non-fiction gift book for early readers.
In 2020, Rise Up: Ordinary Kids with Extraordinary Stories, written in collaboration with illustrator Amy Blackwell and published by Buster Books, was shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book Award in the Best Book with Facts category.
The Moominvalley adaptations have been translated into more than thirty languages.
