Alex Rushworth is a British dentist specialising in paediatric dentistry. She qualified as a dentist in 1997 at the University of Sheffield and has worked in general practice and paediatric dentistry in the North East of England.
Drawing on her clinical experience, Rushworth authored the children’s book Open Wide… What’s Inside? in 2012. The book, illustrated by Helen Rushworth, uses humour and rhyme to educate young readers about dental hygiene, focusing on the fictional ‘Sugarbugs’ that cause tooth decay. It has been praised for its engaging approach to teaching children the importance of brushing their teeth.
Rushworth has contributed to dental education through podcasts, discussing her work and the impact of her book in promoting oral health among children.
