Aimée de Jongh biography

Aimée de Jongh is a Dutch comic creator, illustrator and animator. She studied animation at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, KASK in Ghent, and Gobelins in Paris.

Her early comics work included the daily strip Snippers for the Dutch newspaper Metro. She published her first graphic novel, The Return of the Honey Buzzard, which won the Prix Saint-Michel and was later adapted as a live-action film.

De Jongh’s wider international profile grew through book-length comics including Blossoms in Autumn (written by Zidrou), and the autobiographical graphic novel TAXI! (2019). Her graphic novel Days of Sand received awards and was nominated for the Eisner Award.

In 2022, De Jongh received the Stripschapprijs, a major Dutch award for comics creators. Her graphic novel adaptation of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies was published by Faber and Faber on 12 September 2024.
