Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Adam Stower is a British author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He studied illustration at the Norwich School of Art and Design and later completed a Master of Arts degree in Narrative Illustration and Editorial Design at the University of Brighton.
Stower’s debut picture book, Two Left Feet, was published in 2005. He has since illustrated numerous books, including Bottoms Up! and Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Book?, written by Lauren Child. His collaboration with author Francesca Simon on the Horrid Henry series has also been well-received.
In addition to illustrating, Stower has authored several books. His notable works include SLAM! and Troll and the Oliver. The latter was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2014.
Stower’s illustrations are characterised by their humour and attention to detail, appealing to a wide range of young readers. His book King Coo, published in 2017, was followed by a sequel, King Coo: The Curse of the Mummy’s Gold, in 2019.
