Contest terms and conditions

  • For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, “The Promoter” refers to the website schoolreadinglist.co.uk whose X.com handle is @schoolreading. The “Prize” refers to the prize as defined in the contest explanation and cannot be substituted for another prize or claimed after the contest closing date has passed. For the avoidance of doubt, the closing date is 23:59 on the date indicated in the contest post/tweet.
  • By entering the contest you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. All entries must be received by the time and date indicated in the contest explanation. One (1) winner in the United Kingdom will be selected at random from the correct entries received in compliance with the contest rules by The Promoter within 7 days of the contest closing date and the winner will be notified on or after this date on X.com.
  • Anyone found to use multiple accounts to enter will be ineligible.
  • Anyone posting a mention or reply or sending a dm more than once will be ineligible.
  • Anyone found to be using the X.com platform in a manner that constitutes spam or abuse will be ineligible.
  • Entrants must not publicly broadcast the URL location of the quote on the School Reading List website – such an action will disqualify the entrant. This includes posting publicly on social media.
  • Entrants need to find the one page (other than this contest details page) on this website where the page is located. A correct entry will include the URL of only this one page.
  • Including more than one URL in your entry will invalidate your entry.
  • Including the URL of the contest details page will invalidate your entry.
  • The Promotor’s contests with entry via X.com are open only to residents of the United Kingdom.
  • One (1) winner will be chosen at random from all the correct answers received by entrants.
  • No purchase on the Promotor’s website is necessary. Winners will not be required to pay a fee to enter the contest.
  • No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason, or entries which are not completed by the entrant in the format specified by the Promotor.
  • Entrants must be over 18 years old on the date of their entry.
  • Employees or Associates of The Promoter are not eligible to enter.
  • X.com and uk.bookshop.org are not in any way affiliated with or involved in this contest.
  • Only one entry per person per contest will be accepted.
  • Each entrant shall enter the contest via X.com by following @schoolreading on X.com; sending @schoolreading their answer to the contest question, in the form of a correct website URL, and their valid working email address, by Direct Message (DM) to @schoolreading; and letting @schoolreading know that they have entered by mentioning @schoolreading in a post with reference to the contest on X.com
  • Each entrant can only enter the contest once. Anyone found to use multiple accounts to enter will be ineligible. multiple entries will not be accepted
  • The Prize will be awarded to a randomly selected winner who has entered the correct answer in the correct format on X.com; using a random number generator.
  • The Promoter will not be held liable if the named prize becomes unavailable or cannot be fulfilled.
  • The Promoter will not be held liable for any failure of receipt of entries. The Promoter takes no responsibility for any entries which are lost, delayed, illegible, corrupted, damaged, incomplete or otherwise invalid.
  • To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Promoter’s liability under or in connection with the contest or these terms and conditions shall be limited to the cost price of the Prize in question.
  • School Reading List / @schoolreading will keep entrant DM messages for a period of one week after the contest closing date for the purposes of running the contest only. After this point, DM messages will be deleted. School Reading List / @schoolreading will not store any personal data relating to the entrants.
  • The closing date for entry will be detailed on the specific contest post on X.com After this specified date, no further entries to the contest will be permitted
  • To the extent permitted by applicable law, The Promoter shall not be liable under or in connection with these terms and conditions, the contest or any Prize for any indirect, special or consequential cost, expense, loss or damage suffered by a participant even if such cost, expense, loss or damage was reasonably foreseeable or might reasonably have been contemplated by the participant and the promoter and whether arising from breach of contract, tort, negligence, breach of statutory duty or otherwise.
  • This contest is open to human users only. Using AI is strictly prohibited and where found will result in disqualification.
  • Using external automation tools, such as servers, crawlers, scrapers or link checkers is strictly prohibited and in violation of the terms and conditions of this website; and where found will result in disqualification from this contest.
  • Prizes are non-negotiable, non-transferable and non-refundable. No cash alternative is available. Where a Prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the promoter reserves the right to substitute that prize for a prize of equal or higher value.
  • The name, address, valid working email address and phone number of the winner must be provided to The Promoter if requested and will be shared to enable fulfilment of the Prize.​
  • In the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond The Promoter’s reasonable control, the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest or these terms and conditions, either in whole or in part, with or without notice.
  • The promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the contest and these terms and conditions without notice in the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God, or any actual or anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the promoter’s control. Any changes to the contest will be notified to entrants via a reply to the contest X.com post as soon as possible by the promoter.
  • The Promoter’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
  • The winner’s name and social media username may be posted on the social media profiles and/or website of The Promotor after the winner has been selected.
  • The winner will be notified by email and/or DM on X.com within 28 days of the closing date.
  • If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
  • When the Prize is an email book token/voucher, The Winner may only receive the prize of a book token/voucher by email. The Promotor will not be liable for any issues or faults with the Winner’s email account, provision or mail server.
  • The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the contest will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • Entry into the contest will be deemed as acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  • The contest and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England.
  • The winner agrees to the use of his/her name and image in any publicity material, as well as their entry. Any personal data relating to the winner or any other entrants will be used solely in accordance with current UK data protection legislation and will not be disclosed to a third party without the entrant’s prior consent.
  • The information provided will be used in conjunction with the following Privacy Policy.
