Our review:
I have a two-year-old grandson. This charming book, one of eight in the First Stories published by Campbell, is now a firm favourite in our ‘Pop-Pop read ’ sessions.
there are also push, slide and turn mechanisms which reveal new characters and possibilities
There are four double-page pictures printed on chunky solid card. The story unfolds in four simple couplets but, as I have discovered, there is plenty to discuss and explain. On (or within) each page there are also push, slide and turn mechanisms that reveal new characters and possibilities. Reading at this age is all about repetition and reinforcement; we’ve enjoyed it at least a dozen times so far and haven’t exhausted its possibilities.
Star of the show is undoubtedly Emma Martinez. Her illustrations are clear, busy, colourful and intriguing.
Many thanks to Campbell Books for the review copy.
