Yoh Yoshinari biography

Yoh Yoshinari is a Japanese animator, illustrator, mechanical designer and director. He is best known for his work with Studio Trigger and his distinctive, dynamic animation style.

Yoshinari began his career at Gainax, where he contributed to major productions including Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995–1996) and FLCL (2000–2001). His animation is noted for its expressive motion, intricate mechanical detail and inventive visual effects.

He later co-founded Studio Trigger, where he became one of the studio’s leading creators. Yoshinari directed the short film Little Witch Academia (2013) for the Anime Mirai project, which was followed by the sequel Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade (2015) and a full television series (2017).

His design work includes contributions to series such as Gurren Lagann (2007) and BNA: Brand New Animal (2020), which he directed for Studio Trigger.

In addition to his animation and directing roles, Yoshinari is recognised for his illustration and mechanical design, regularly producing artbooks and concept materials showcasing his unique approach to visual storytelling.
