Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Tracy Curran is a UK children’s author whose work spans picture books and early chapter books. A former primary school teacher for sixteen years, she is represented by Alice Williams Literary and runs the children’s book review blog The Breadcrumb Forest.
Curran’s debut publication, Pumpkin’s Fairytale, illustrated by Wayne Oram, was published by Final Chapter Ltd on 27 September 2021 (ISBN 9781838381622). She followed this with young fiction for emerging readers: Unicorns in Uniforms: Dragon Inferno, illustrated by Steve Wood, was published by UCLan Publishing on 6 February 2025 (ISBN 9781916747425).
Curran also writes picture books with trade publishers. How Not to Share a Pizza!, illustrated by Lauren Beard, was published by Five Quills on 3 April 2025 (ISBN 9781912923441).
Alongside writing, Curran engages with schools and libraries and contributes to the UK children’s book community through reviews and features on her blog.
