Thé Tjong-Khing biography

Thé Tjong-Khing is an illustrator and author known for his work in children’s literature. Born in Purworedjo, Java, he moved to the Netherlands, where he established his career as an illustrator. Thé Tjong-Khing has illustrated numerous books for children, collaborating with various authors and contributing to a wide range of titles. His illustrations are recognised for their detail and expressiveness, and he has worked across different genres within children’s publishing.

In addition to illustrating, Thé Tjong-Khing has also written and illustrated his own picture books. His wordless picture book Waar is de taart? was published in 2004. Thé Tjong-Khing has received several awards for his contributions to children’s literature, including the Gouden Penseel and the Woutertje Pieterse Prijs. In 2010, he was awarded the Max Velthuijs-prijs for his body of work as an illustrator.
