Tania Biswas biography

Tania Biswas is a North American manga publishing editor and art director whose work focuses on bringing Japanese children’s and young adult comics to English-language readers. She began her career with Yen Press at its launch in 2007, rising to senior editor and helping to shape a list that introduced mainstream and school-library audiences to translated manga across middle grade and YA categories.

In 2019 Biswas joined Square Enix Manga & Books as a senior editor to help manage English-language editorial, localisation and production for the imprint’s North American programme, distributed by Penguin Random House. Her role includes commissioning and overseeing translation, lettering, design and approvals for series aimed at teen readers.

Biswas is credited on popular classroom- and library-circulating franchises, including Toilet-bound Hanako-kun (AidaIro) and volumes in the Black Butler (Yana Toboso) programme via earlier Yen Press work. As an art director at Square Enix Manga she has been credited on English editions such as Yuu Toyota’s Cherry Magic!, collaborating with designers and production teams to adapt visual branding for the English market while retaining core series identities.

Across these projects Biswas’s portfolio reflects long-standing expertise in editorial development, series management and the processes that take manga from acquisition to print and digital editions for schools, libraries and general readers.
