Takuma Morishige biography

Takuma Morishige is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the series My Neighbor Seki (Tonari no Seki-kun). The manga began serialisation in 2010 in the magazine Monthly Comic Flapper, published by Media Factory. My Neighbor Seki follows the comedic antics of a schoolboy, Seki, who invents elaborate distractions at his desk, much to the fascination of his classmate Rumi Yokoi.

The series gained popularity for its unique premise and visual humour, leading to an anime adaptation that aired in 2014. The manga has been published in English by Vertical, with the first volume released in 2015. Morishige’s work has been noted for its detailed illustrations and inventive storytelling within the slice-of-life genre.

In addition to My Neighbor Seki, Morishige has also created other manga works, including Kyou no Asuka Show, which was serialised in Monthly Big Comic Spirits and adapted into an anime in 2012. Morishige’s contributions to manga have been recognised within the industry, and My Neighbor Seki was nominated for the 17th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2013.
