Susan Hayes is a British children’s author known for her work on non-fiction picture books. She has written titles for young readers that focus on science, nature, and the environment. Hayes is the author of the Little Explorers series, published by Little Tiger Press, which introduces children to topics such as the ocean, the jungle, and the human body. She has also written Moon: Night-Time Around the World, illustrated by Susanna Covelli, published by What on Earth Books in 2019. This title was shortlisted for the 2020 English 4–11 Picture Book Awards. Hayes’s books are published internationally and have been translated into several languages. Her work often features collaborations with illustrators including Susanna Covelli and Sam Rennocks. In 2022, her book Look What I Found at the Seaside, illustrated by Sam Brewster and published by Nosy Crow, was shortlisted for the Teach Primary Book Awards. Hayes continues to publish non-fiction titles for children with a focus on accessible science and discovery.
