Stewart Ross is a British writer with more than 300 published titles. His work includes fiction and non-fiction for children and adults, and many of his books are about, or inspired by, history.
His writing has also included novels, several plays, three librettos and a musical. Twisted Fairy Tales, written with Samantha Newman and Jo Franklin and illustrated by Chris Jevons and James Hearne, was published by Arcturus and distributed by Simon & Schuster in hardcover on 1 May 2022 for readers aged 8 to 12.
Ross wrote Into the Unknown: How Great Explorers Found Their Way by Land, Sea, and Air, illustrated by Stephen Biesty. The book presents fourteen historic journeys, including expeditions connected with Marco Polo, Neil Armstrong, Leif Eriksson, Zheng He, Magellan, Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary, and it includes an index, glossary and sources.
Into the Unknown was released by Candlewick on 1 April 2011 as a 96-page children’s non-fiction title. The same book received a Boston Globe–Horn Book Honor.
Ross also wrote Charlotte Brontë and Jane Eyre, illustrated by Robert Van Nutt, a 48-page children’s biography and memoir title published by Viking with a release date of 1 October 1997.
