Steve Hofstetter (born 11 September 1979) is an American stand-up comedian, author and podcast host. Raised in Queens, New York, he graduated from Columbia University and began performing professionally in the early 2000s. His live work, online videos and media appearances established him as a touring comic with an international audience.
Hofstetter hosted and executive-produced Laughs, a half-hour stand-up showcase broadcast on Fox Television Stations from 2014 to 2017. His television credits include The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, ESPN’s Quite Frankly, Showtime’s White Boyz in the Hood, VH1 countdown programmes and MLB Network features, as well as the FS1 special Finding Babe Ruth.
For young adult readers he wrote the memoir-in-essays Ginger Kid: Mostly True Tales from a Former Nerd (Amulet Books/Abrams, 20 March 2018), a 304-page volume reflecting on adolescence, school culture and resilience. Earlier humorous titles and several stand-up albums and specials form part of his catalogue.
Hofstetter is the founder of Steel City Arts Foundation (Steel City AF), a non-profit based in Pittsburgh that provides residencies, workspace and training for comedians. The project began with the purchase of a former church property in 2020–2021 and expanded in 2023 with a second venue developed for performances and production.
He co-hosts the interactive comedy podcast High Confidence, Low Self-Esteem, and continues to write and tour, combining club dates with festival and theatre appearances.
