Stephen Krensky is an American author who has written more than 100 books for children, including picture books, chapter books, and nonfiction titles. He studied at Hamilton College. Krensky’s work covers a wide range of subjects, from historical fiction to fantasy and biographies. His books have been published by several major publishers, including Simon & Schuster, Scholastic, and Penguin Random House.
Among his notable works are the How Santa Got His Job series, which explores the origins of Santa Claus in a humorous and imaginative way. He has also written the Great Idea series, which introduces young readers to inventors and their inventions. In addition, Krensky has authored several titles in the Step into Reading series, designed to support early literacy development.
Krensky’s nonfiction books often focus on historical figures and events, providing accessible introductions for young readers. His biography George Washington: The Man Who Would Not Be King is one example of his work in this genre. He has also written adaptations and retellings of classic tales, as well as original stories for various age groups.
In 2012, Krensky published Now and Ben: The Modern Inventions of Benjamin Franklin with Simon & Schuster.
