Simon Adams biography

Simon Adams (born 1955) is a British writer and editor of children’s non-fiction. Born in Bristol, he studied history and politics at universities in London and Bristol before working as an editor of children’s reference and other non-fiction books. He became a full-time writer in 1990 and has since written or contributed to dozens of titles for major publishers, including Dorling Kindersley, Kingfisher, Watts and National Geographic.

Adams’s books introduce history, geography and culture for primary and lower secondary readers. He has written widely on the two world wars, the sinking of the Titanic, exploration, and world civilizations, and has served as a contributor to reference works. His work also includes articles for Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Selected works include DK Eyewitness: World War I, DK Eyewitness: World War II, DK Eyewitness: Titanic, The Kingfisher World History Atlas, and National Geographic World History Biographies such as Elizabeth I: The Outcast Who Became England’s Queen and Alexander: The Boy Soldier Who Conquered the World.
