Seth Burkett is a British author and former footballer, known for his writing on football and esports for children and young adults. He played professional football in Brazil for Sorriso EC, an experience that became the basis for his first book, The Boy in Brazil, published by Floodlit Dreams in 2014. The book recounts his time as the only British professional footballer in Brazil at the time and explores the culture and passion for football in the country.
Burkett has written several books for younger readers, including the Football School Star Players series and the Ultimate Football Heroes: The Academy series, co-authored with Matt Oldfield. He has also written about esports, with titles such as Football School: The Amazing Quiz Book and Tekkers: The Football Comic. His work often combines sporting themes with accessible storytelling aimed at engaging reluctant readers.
In addition to his writing, Burkett has contributed articles to publications such as The Guardian and has appeared at literary festivals and school events to discuss his experiences as both a footballer and an author. He is represented by the literary agency Peters Fraser + Dunlop.
Burkett’s book The Boy in Brazil was longlisted for the 2015 British Sports Book Awards in the Football Book of the Year category.
