Seng Soun Ratanavanh is a French illustrator and painter who was born in Laos. She graduated from the National School of Fine Arts in Paris (ENSBA).
She illustrates children’s books as well as exhibiting her artwork. Her illustration style has been described as influenced by Japanese art, and she is known for working with colored pencils and watercolor.
Her children’s book projects include The Paper Bridge by Joëlle Veyrenc (Floris Books, 2024), for which she taught herself kirigami to create a blend of two-dimensional illustration and three-dimensional paper scenes, and La petite fille et le carnaval des animaux by Florence Desnouveaux (Didier Jeunesse, 2024). She won the Prix Landerneau Album Jeunesse in 2021 for Gaspard dans la nuit (La Martinière Jeunesse).
