Sarah Crofton biography

Sarah Crofton is a children’s author published by Usborne in the Adventure Gamebooks series. Her work combines branching narratives, dice-based challenges and picture puzzles designed for confident readers, and is developed in collaboration with co-author W. J. Tattersdill and illustrator Tom Knight.

Crofton’s first title for the series, League of Thieves, was issued by Usborne in 2023 and collected in a 272-page paperback edition for the US market in 2024. The book places the reader at the centre of a heist set in and around Castle Flaggstone, with multiple routes, coded clues and visual tasks integrated into the story structure.

A further instalment, Lightning Rider, is scheduled by Usborne for publication in 2026. Like her earlier work, it retains the role-playing mechanics and puzzle elements that characterise the list while introducing a new setting and quest.

Crofton writes within a long tradition of interactive fiction for young readers, producing plot-driven adventures that can be used for independent reading or group problem-solving in upper primary and early secondary classrooms.
