Sandi Toksvig is a British-Danish writer, broadcaster, and comedian. She has authored numerous books for children and young adults, as well as works for adults. Toksvig’s children’s books include Hitler’s Canary (2005), a novel based on her family’s experiences during the Second World War in Denmark, and Unusual Day (1996), which was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal. Other children’s titles include The Littlest Viking (1994), The Trouble with Women (2015), and Girls Are Best (2008).
Toksvig has also written plays and contributed to radio and television. Her work has been published by several major publishers, including Doubleday and Red Fox. In 2003, she received the Audie Award for Children’s Title for her narration of Peter Pan. Toksvig’s books have been translated into multiple languages. In 2014, she was awarded an OBE for services to broadcasting.
