Sam Prentice-Jones is an author-illustrator working in children’s and young adult publishing. A graduate of Arts University Bournemouth with a BA (Hons) in Illustration (2019), Sam specialises in digital, graphic, character-led storytelling. Alongside book work, Sam created and edited the queer illustration magazine POOF Magazine, which ran from 2019 to 2021 and showcased LGBTQIA+ artists.
Sam’s debut graphic novel, Arcana: The Lost Heirs, is a tarot-inspired fantasy for young adults that explores legacy, power and found family. The book was published in the United States by Feiwel & Friends, an imprint of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group, in 2025. A UK edition is published by Hot Key Books (ISBN 9781471420122).
Prentice-Jones’s illustration practice extends to talks and features for industry organisations and booksellers, reflecting a focus on inclusive narratives and visual world-building in YA comics and graphic fiction.
Arcana: The Lost Heirs was selected as an American Booksellers Association Indies Introduce title in 2025.
