Sabaa Tahir is a former newspaper editor who grew up in California’s Mojave Desert at her family’s eighteen-room motel. She began writing An Ember in the Ashes while working nights as a newspaper editor. An Ember in the Ashes was published by Razorbill on 28 April 2015. Tahir continued the series with A Torch Against the Night on 30 August 2016, A Reaper at the Gates on 12 June 2018, and A Sky Beyond the Storm on 1 December 2020.
Her novel All My Rage was published by Razorbill on 1 March 2022. All My Rage won the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature, the Michael L. Printz Award, and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Fiction and Poetry. In 2024, Tahir returned to the world of An Ember in the Ashes with Heir, a new fantasy novel set in the same world, published on 1 October 2024.
