Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Ronke Owoeye is a children’s writer whose work for very young readers has been recognised by the Jericho Prize, which supports new Black British picture book talent. In August 2025 she won the Best Baby and Toddler Script (ages 1–3) category for her manuscript This One? That One!
As part of the award, recipients receive a cash prize and professional development support, including a year’s membership of the Society of Authors, with backing from partners such as Hachette Children’s Group and Inclusive Books for Children.
