Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Robin Bennett is a British author and entrepreneur who has written fiction and non-fiction for children and young adults. He founded the independent publishing house Monster Books in 1997.
He studied Modern Languages at Royal Holloway, graduating in 1992. He also founded Aktuel Translations as part of his broader business interests. Over time, the Bennett Group has expanded to include translation services, tutoring, consulting and patent translation operations.
In children’s and YA fiction, Bennett’s works include the Creake Castle series, the Small Vampires series, Space Dragons, Iron Knights, and XII. He also writes non-fiction in the “Stupendous Sports” strand, such as Rampaging Rugby, Fantastic Football and Cracking Cricket, aimed at readers aged about 7–11.
Bennett has published under a pen name, R. S. Harding, for some works. His novel Picus the Thief was longlisted for the British Fantasy Award in 2012 and won the Writer Magazine Indie Published Book of the Year Award.
He also works in documentary production: his film Fantastic Britain won an Award of Excellence in May 2016 at the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards (HIIDA).
His novel Small Vampires: Picus the Thief won the Writer Magazine award in 2012.
