Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Richard Kurti is a British author and screenwriter known for his work in children’s and young adult fiction. He studied English and Film at the University of East Anglia. Kurti began his career in the film and television industry, writing scripts for the BBC and other broadcasters. His screenwriting credits include adaptations and original works for both television and radio.
Kurti is the author of several novels for young readers. His debut novel, Monkey Wars, was published by Walker Books in 2013. The book explores themes of conflict and survival through the perspective of rival monkey tribes. Monkey Wars was shortlisted for the 2014 Carnegie Medal.
In addition to his novels, Kurti has written audio dramas for Big Finish Productions, including stories set in the worlds of Doctor Who and Blake’s 7. He has also contributed to the Doctor Who: Short Trips series.
