Renji Asai is a Japanese manga artist known for illustrating the action series The Violence Action and for creating the manga adaptation of Mamoru Hosoda’s film The Boy and the Beast.
The Violence Action – written by Shin Sawada and illustrated by Asai – began serialisation on Shogakukan’s Yawaraka Spirits platform in April 2016, with tankōbon volumes published by Shogakukan. The series follows Kei Kikuno, a student who secretly works as a contract assassin, and has attracted critical attention in Japan.
Asai’s artwork also fronts the four-volume manga edition of The Boy and the Beast, published in English by Yen Press, where he is credited as the series artist.
The Violence Action received a live-action film adaptation that opened in Japan on 19 August 2022.
